The Problem:

The Solution:
Genetically modify snakes so that they can be fired from a gen-o-cannon in case of an emergency. After the snake is tied down, sheds its super-skin, and is tossed to the ground, humans can transverse the space between buildings.
Snakes can be kept in cages on roofs and fed garbage.
The Problem:
Temporary shelter for refugees / homeless
The Solution:
Genetically modify snails so that their shells are inhabitable by people. A few of these “super snails” could be dropped into war torn areas and bred.
Refugees, homeless or others in need of housing could then scoop out and eat the bodies of the snails while living in and waterproofing the shells as temporary or semi-permanent housing .

Emergency lighting during power outages / Brownouts
The Solution:
Genetically modify electric eels and install them in long tubes. During power outages the low amounts of light from these creatures can be critical in lighting vital institutions.
